About
Dunagoil
Archaeological excavations carried out here recovered many interesting artefacts including jewellery, tools and pottery. The cliffscape is itself a volcanic headland and gives its name to the bay that it overlooks. Like other places, such as Donegal in Ireland, Dunagoil’s name is from the Gaelic dún na gall – meaning, ‘fort of the foreigners’.
